Position opening: Professor (Division of Electron Photon Science)

We are now opening a professor position (permanent) to lead the Accelerator and Beam Physics Laboratory in the Division of Electron Photon Science, at the Research center for Accelerator and Radioisotope Science(RARiS). Candidates are encouraged to check out the details about the RARiS at http://www.raris.tohoku.ac.jp.
  The successful candidate is expected to bear the responsibility for the maintenance, management, and advancement of the electron accelerators, which serve as the core facility of the ‘Center for Electron Photon Science’, which is approved by MEXT, Japan, as well as the management of RARiS. In addition, the candidate can develop research programs on beam physics related to generating high-intensity electron beams and the interaction between electrons and photons, while also exploring new research directions. Furthermore, the candidate is responsible for teaching a cooperative course in the Department of Physics at the Graduate School of Science, Tohoku University, and is involved in educating both undergraduate and graduate students.

  4. Job description:
    1. The maintenance, management, and advancement of the electron accelerator
    2. research on beam physics related to the generation of high-intensity electron beams and the interaction between electrons and photons
    3. contribute to the steering of RARiS and the education of students assigned to RARiS.
    1. Start of the term: as early as possible after the decision.
    2. Salary: following the rule of the Tohoku University standards.
    3. Applicant requirements: Ph.D., an equivalent qualification.
      It is desirable to have a level of Japanese and English communication skills that do not interfere with work duties.

        (2-3 pages in A4 format). Provide details on your achievements in research and development.
      3. Description on future research plans at RARiS. (research plans after appointment, and outlook for the next core project , 2-3 pages in A4 format)
      4. List of achievements (including publications, presentations in international conferences, patents, etc.)
      5. Main publications (up to 5) 
      6. List of recent competitive funding acquisition
      7. Contact information of at least two individuals who can provide a reference
