Position opening: Professor (Division of Electron Photon Science)

We are now opening a professor position (permanent) on the Radioactive-isotope Science Laboratory in the Division of Electron Photon Science, at the Research center for Accelerator and Radioisotope Science (RARiS). The successful candidate is expected to play a central role in experimental research in nuclear physics and related fields using the high-intensity electron accelerator, which is a core facility of the RARiS, a national Joint Usage/Research Center. The candidate will lead a broad range of studies in nuclear physics and actively contribute to the management of the Center, including the promotion of joint usage and collaborative research activities. The candidate will also hold a concurrent position in the Department of Physics, Graduate School of Science, Tohoku University, and contribute to human resource development through undergraduate and graduate education.

2. Term of employment: Tenured position (mandatory retirement age of 65)

4. Job description:
   • Experimental research on low energy nuclear physics
   • Contribute to the steering of RARiS and the education of students assigned to RARiS.
5. Start of the term: 　At the earliest possible date after July 1, 2026.
6. Salary: 　following the rule of the Tohoku University standards.
7. Applicant requirements:
   The applicant must have a Ph.D. degree.
   It is desirable to have a level of Japanese and English communication skills that do not interfere with work duties.

     Provide details on your achievements in research.
   • Description on future research plans at RARiS.
     (research plans after appointment, and outlook for the next core project , 3 pages max. in A4 format).
   • List of achievements (including publications, presentations in international
     conferences, patents, etc.)
   • Main publications (up to 5)
   • List of recent competitive funding acquisition
   • Contact information of at least two individuals who can provide a reference.

    interview. (For those residing overseas, the interview can be conducted online.)
